Meet Randy Smoot

Randy grew up in the San Antonio suburb of Universal City and graduated college with a BBA in finance from SMU. He started his professional career as a money manager but after working in the stock market for 4 years, realized his passion lay in marketing. He joined New Times Media as an Account Executive for the Dallas Observer newspaper and quickly became one of the top performing sales reps for this national chain of newsweeklies. He moved into management; first as Sales Manager, then Ad Director, and finally Associate Publisher for the city’s second largest newspaper.  After ten plus years of creating marketing strategies and solutions for clients at the Observer, he realized the need of many businesses to have a solid creative and advertising strategy. He then decided it was time to put his talents to work for himself and launched Gangway in 2006.

Meet Cynthia Smoot

Cynthia left the University of North Texas with a degree in Clothing & Textiles and fell into sales for New Times Media as an Account Executive for the Dallas Observer. Cynthia spent 12 years at the Observer, first in local sales and quickly moving into Regional and National sales for New Times 17 markets across the country (If you haven’t figured it out yet, this is also where Randy & Cynthia met).  After 12 years with New Times/Village Voice Media, Cynthia left to work with D Magazine Partners, specifically to launch their new business magazine, D CEO. Cynthia spent 3 years with D Magazine Partners developing D CEO, selling for D Magazine and D Home publications and creating event sponsorships.

Cynthia’s personal passion for social media turned into an opportunity to use those skills for Gangway and she now oversees digital strategies and public relations for Gangway’s clients. In her spare time, she uses her creative writing skills to craft articles for publications including Curated Texan, Park Cities Lifestyle magazine, and the Katy Trail Weekly newspaper, among others.
